Metal Shingles

3D shake and slate metal shingles — the look of cedar or slate with the performance of steel. Hidden fasteners, dozens of colours, full hail and fade protection.

Overview

Why homeowners choose IronWrap for metal shingles

Metal shingles give you the depth and texture of cedar shake or natural slate without the weight, fire risk, or 15-year replacement cycle. Each shingle is a stamped-and-coated steel panel with hidden fasteners and a 3D profile that catches light like the real thing.

Compared to asphalt — which dries out and cracks long before its warranty is up — metal shingles carry full hail and fade protection for the life of the roof. Class-A fire rating means your home is protected even in wildfire-prone areas, and the recyclable steel substrate is one of the greenest roofing options on the market.

Available in a wide range of colours and finishes including weathered slate greys, classic cedar browns, charcoals, and saturated reds — you get the architectural style your home deserves without compromising on performance.

Common Questions

Metal Shingles FAQs

Quick answers to what homeowners ask before they sign on for metal shingles.

See all FAQs
Will it really look like cedar shake / slate?+

From the curb, yes — and even up close most people don't realize it's metal. The 3D stamped profile catches light from any angle, which is what gives real shake and slate their character.

Is metal shingle quieter or louder than asphalt?+

About the same. Modern metal shingles are installed over a structural deck and synthetic underlayment, which absorbs sound. The 'tin roof rattle' myth comes from old exposed-fastener barn roofs — not modern residential systems.

Can I walk on a metal shingle roof?+

Yes — we install a load-bearing substrate underneath, and the shingle profiles are designed to be walked on for inspection or maintenance. Just step on the flat sections, not the raised ribs.

Are metal shakes good for steep roofs?+

They're great for steep roofs — the panels grip well to the substrate and shed snow / debris faster than asphalt. We install on pitches as steep as 18:12 and as low as 3:12.
